We discuss the following:

• Our first shot with the MōVI and Hot Gears
• Techniques to take the background light down
• Using the Teradek Bolt 2000 HD wired to a handheld Flanders CM250 OLED 24” monitor
• Hallway lighting schematic
• Lighting diagram for exterior campus
• Shooting schedule for day 1

Day one on Fathers and Daughters started with a MōVI shot in a Columbia University bathroom; followed by lighting a large hallway where we need to take down the light coming in from outside; and finally an exterior with the MōVI weaving in and out of students.

Awesome. Who else read the blog in Shane’s voice? :-)

Thanks for all of the details you provided Shane. Pages from a master’s notebook. Like ASC mag on steroids. I learned more from you in a 1/2 an hour than two years in film school with diagrams, gear and mental notes. Awesome.

I was anxious to see the on set with Shane series and it did not disappoint! It was great seeing the play book for the first day. The best idea to effectively convey this level of information I have ever seen!
